Have you ever received a large gift box, only to find multiple smaller gift boxes inside? If you have, you would have noticed that the biggest box contained boxes inside that decreased in size. The final and smallest box would have contained the actual gift. This same idea models the way that the Carolus Linnaeus system works. The biggest box in this situation would represent the kingdom, the most general group, while the smallest box , comtaining the actual gift would represent the species, the most specific group. Now imagine that each box has confetti inside. The confetti represents the idea that each group can have multiple different groups inside. Just as the anticipation builds when trying to find the actual gift, the particularity also builds when finding the species of an organism. For example, Kingdom contains Monera, Protista, Archaea, Plantae, Fungi, and Animalia.
